Son – The Image Of God

“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”Colossians‬ ‭1:15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In Col 1:15, Son is defined as the Image of the invisible God. The meaning of son in secular used is not really that far off. If you have a son, your son is an Image of you. Son represents the father hence the expression, “you are like your father” or, “like father like son”

“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1:1-3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

In above verse, it says, Son is express Image of His Person. Now, one meaning or synonym of the word “person” is being and, one synonym of “being” in nature. And, it is said that the nature of God is Spirit, a Holy one.

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”John‬ ‭4:24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

For an image to be express, may it be in works or another else, it must be visible otherwise it will not be expressed since you cannot see it.

Having said the above, “Express Image of His Person” has the same thought as Col 1:15. The Son is the visible manifestation of God who is by nature an Invisible Holy Spirit.

Now, In Gen 1:27 and Gen 9:6, it is said that the man was created in the Image of God who is the Son as defined in Col 1:15. This proves that the Son or the Image of God was already there in the beginning.

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”Genesis‬ ‭1:27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man.”‭‭Genesis‬ ‭9:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The question is, what was the Image of God in the beginning? Was it human already with flesh, blood, and bones?

The clue is the verse below;

“Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.” (Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?”Ephesians‬ ‭4:8-9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.”Acts‬ ‭2:31-32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

In Acts 2:31-32, we read that His soul was not left in hades. This was during the 3 days where He was detached from His human body buried in a tomb. Detached because, when the body was raised from the dead, the consciousness that went to hades was the same consciousness that was simply returned to the human body. The change was in the body, it became glorified, something that is acceptable both on earth and in heaven.

So, having said the above again, it follows that the Image of God or the Son was a SOUL in the beginning and was only place or given a human body in the later part and that body became the Christ, an anointed human vessel of God.

A soul is a self conscious being powered or was animated or was given life by the spirit.

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Without the spirit, the life, may it either be in animals, human body or angels or non physical being (souls) will cease to exist. In fact, Angels are souls powered by the spirit same as the Son who was when detached from the human body was a soul. It does not make sense that the Son during the detachment from the human body was a soul and angels who don’t have human body are not.

The SPIRIT that was attached to the Image of God or the Son may it either be in soul form (before Matthew) or with human body (from Matthew to eternal) was the Father Spirit. The Image or the Son is the exact representation of the Father within. But, the Father is not only present within His Image but is also detached from His Image. In a condition as I like to call it, UNITED AND SEPARATED. Because, as the bible say, God is omnipresent. He fills heaven and earth. The bible did not say, His power fills heaven and earth but God Himself fills it.

Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the LORD; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD.” Jeremiah 23:24 NKJV

The vast Holy Spirit Father gave His authority to His Image by giving His Name because, the authority is in the name. No Name no Authority.

“As he was thinking about this, an angel from the Lord appeared……. She will give birth to a son, and you will call him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”Matthew 1:20-21 CEB

“So he became as much superior to the angels as the NAME he has inherited is superior to theirs.”Hebrews‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.”John‬ ‭17:11-12‬ ‭NIV‬

This is the reason why Jesus is the name above all name for after all, it is the name of the Father that was only given to His Image. None is above God or the Father.

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,”Philippians‬ ‭2:9-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

But, what happens to the name given by God to Moses? Well, it remains to be there as it is the title name of the name Jesus- the name of the Father and His Image or Son.

Jehovah in other versions simply means, THE LORD and, it’s a title name worthy to a supreme being.

“I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols.” Isaiah‬ ‭42:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“I am Jehovah, that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise unto graven images.”Isaiah‬ ‭42:8‬ ‭ASV‬‬

Having difficulty in comprehending what I’m trying to say? Well, I can put it in this analogy;

Imagine, a self-conscious vast ocean and in that vast ocean, there is a self-conscious bottle with an ocean inside it floating in a vast self-conscious ocean.

Imagine that this vast ocean is invisible but, though you can’t see it, you can feel its presence. That is what the angels feel in heaven, they always figuratively see the face of the father (Matt 18:10).

That vast ocean inside and outside the bottle is like the vast Spirit God or the Father in the name of Jesus.

The bottle is like the Image of God or the Son.

Only the bottle can see the vastness of the ocean literally. Or, only the image of God or Son has the privilege to see literally His Father in its vastness.

As the verse says;

“No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.”John‬ ‭1:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Now, the bottle at the beginning with the ocean inside and outside was kinda like a clear bottle. Then, in the latter part, it was covered so that it became not clear anymore and carried a name of the ocean which is inside and outside of it. Although the name was already carried by the bottle even when it was clear, it was not known to all being.

The image of God or the Son with the Father Spirit inside and outside was a soul without the human body in the beginning. Then, in the latter part, it was placed in a human body that became the Christ carrying the name of the Father (Jesus) who is inside and outside of the Christ to eternity. Although the name was already carried by the Image of God even when there was no human body yet, it was not known to man. He only revealed to Moses His title name (The LORD). It was the Christ whom He entrusted the revelation of His name. And, since the body or human body also ascended to heaven. The name now becomes LORD Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the Name of the Father and Christ is the chosen human vessel as the new Image of God or Son who can relate and both the highest creation to man and spiritual being i.e Angels
