The Inherited Sin in the bible is defined as the sin we inherited from Adam and Eve. This type of sin can be called Adamic Sin or Original Sin. This sin is passed through our father following a father line model. This is the reason why Jesus Christ did not inherit the original sin as he has no biological human father.
“And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.” I John 3:5 NKJV
On the other hand, Committed sin is a sin done wilfully. The Bible defined it like this;
“Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.”I John 3:4 NKJV
Jesus Christ also did not commit sin.
“Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”;I Peter 2:22 NKJV
It follows that Jesus Christ has no sin, both;
- Inherited Sin and
- Committed Sin
Yet, He died paying for a sin he did not inherit nor commit. A blameless lamb indeed.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”Romans 6:23 NKJV
Now, it is said the law was now written in our heart and mind;
“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,”Hebrews 10:16 NKJV
But, what does it mean? Since sin is lawlessness, how can someone commit sin if its now written into our hearts and mind?
It’s like this, whatever rules or law you plant in your mind and heart if you go against it, you would naturally feel guilty and in that sense, you feel like committing a sin because you go against the law you placed within you.
Say, you put rules within yourself that you are not allowed to cut your hair, this is one of the laws written within you. Once, you go against it, you would feel like committing a sin not against other person but against yourself since it’s not a law of God, it is you who put that law inside you after all. It’s like you just cook yourself with your own oil.
That is the danger if you let any man write rules or set of law within you or plant beliefs within you that God actually did not say or God said it differently because, you would think in your heart that you are going against God’s law when it is actually another man’s or, your own made up law placed to yourself.
One example of this is tithing. How God implement it is actually different from the man who supposedly preaches the word. What is being planted is not really what had God said rather, what the man believes the God had said. So, those who were planted with the preacher belief would think that they are going against God’s law when actually, they are just going against man’s law which they accepted to place in their heart and mind.
But, what if I don’t place any law in my heart and mind, would I still commit sin since I have nothing to obey? Well, sin is lawlessness and lawlessness is the absence of law. On the contrary, you sin if you follow no law because sin is the absence or disregard of the law. You have to have some kind of law written within you to obey for not to commit any sin. The only problem is whether you will or, is obeying or, will obey another man’s law or God’s law. There is a thin line between the two and if we are not meticulous enough in reading what the Bible really says, you might be obeying another man’s belief thinking that it is of God.
Going back to subject in hand, we know that;
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23 NKJV
All humans have original sin but, not all have committed sin i.e newborn babies, child. Only Jesus Christ is without original and committed sin.
Now the question is, are newborn babies regardless of religious affiliation will automatically go to heaven should the baby die?
The answer is Yes. Whether a Hindu baby, Muslim baby or whoever they are, they are automatically in God’s hand should a baby dies.
The reason is, we know that the payment of inherited sin or original sin is literal death. See Wages of Sin. Obviously, no man is exempted of this unless willed by God. Since we all have the inherited sin including the babies and even those in the womb, if the baby dies, the baby automatically paid the original sin with death and so, the original sin is canceled out. And, since the baby has not committed will-fully any sin, the baby goes to heaven. This applies not only to babies but to all human, once a human experiences death, that man would pay off the original sin, therefore, the original sin is canceled out. The next factor that will be looked upon would be the committed sin. As the verse says;
“The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.” Ezekiel 18:20 NIV
The verse above is referring to committed sin, righteousness is due to the righteous and wickedness is due to the wicked.
