In the beginning was the Word

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.”‭‭John‬ ‭1:1-2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In the beginning was the word (Singular)– there are many words that we know of – written and verbal words but, there is only one word I know of in the bible that was made into the flesh, this word (singular) is Jesus. This word- Jesus was said to be in the beginning.

“The Word became flesh and made his home among us. We have seen his glory, glory like that of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.” John‬ ‭1:14‬ ‭CEB‬‬

This word Jesus is found to be the name of God or the Father given to the Son.

“I’m no longer in the world, but they are in the world, even as I’m coming to you. Holy Father, watch over them in YOUR NAME, the name you gave me, that they will be one just as we are one. When I was with them, I watched over them in your name, the name you gave to me, and I kept them safe. None of them were lost, except the one who was destined for destruction, so that scripture would be fulfilled.”‭‭John‬ ‭17:11-12‬ ‭CEB‬‬

The word Jesus which is the name of the Father was inherited by His son- the image of God

“So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God’s Image or the Son was already in the beginning. This was the 1st born among all other creation: See Link: The firstborn over all creation

“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”Colossians‬ ‭1:15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In fact, the verse below says, IN THE IMAGE OF GOD he created them. Click here: Image of God is the Son.

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God=SON he created them; male and female he created them.”‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We found out that the Image of God and the Father are dwelling to each other.

“Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.”John‬ ‭14:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

To understand this, I can analogize it like this;

Imagine a water bottle, the water inside is the father and the bottle is the son. They are one. Father is Spirit within His Image (Son). Or, like a man where his body is with his spirit, they are one and always together. In the case of God, the Spirit is within and at the same time separated because as the verse says,

“Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the LORD; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD.” Jeremiah 23:24 NKJV

The whole water on earth cannot be contained in a single bottle. It’s the same logic, the full vastness of Spirit God cannot be contained in His Image (Son). The image of God is there to represent the Invisible Spirit in its fullness.

This is the reason why sometimes, there are verses that seem to suggest that they are separate because it’s also true. Though they are one, they are also separated

And, the word was with God- simply means, the image of God who inherited the word which is the name of God is with His Spirit always. Its kinda like, your body with the name of your spirit is always with your spirit or the invisible you. Your visible you or the body cannot be separated from your spirit, they are always together otherwise the visible you will have no life since, it is the spirit that gives life.

And the word was God– we already established that the word is Jesus, this word is God because it is the name of the Father after all.

The word was with God in the beginning– Since the Image of God or the son inherited the name Jesus and the Spirit dwells with the Image of God. The word here refers to the Image of God and the Spirit within, they are in the beginning and are one.
