“For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself.” John 5:26 NIV
How do we determine whether one has a life of its own or none? Suppose you have this robot toy, when you place a battery on it so that it moves, does the toy now a have a life on its own? None right since the robot toy though it moves, it cannot or will not decide on its own. In short, it has no will of its own. Therefore, self will or free will is the determining factor whether you have a life of your own or none.
The Life or Father in the Son has a will of its own hence, the verse said that the Father has a life on its own. And, the Son who is the Image of the Father also has a life on its own hence, the verse said, the Son also have a life in himself but, they are one because, without THE LIFE or Father in the Son, the Son would not exist. For this reason, the son said, The Father is higher than the Son or THE LIFE in Him is higher than himself (John 14:28).
Mankind was created in this image and likeness. Though one, there are 2 life or will in us.
- The will of the spirit who does not intervene with the person’s will.
- The will of the person who is being made alive by the spirit within.
From conception to death, the life in us is not really ours, it is given to us for us to have a life but the will of it is not ours. The life in us follows the will of the one who gives it but, though it follows the will of God it does not intervene with our own will so that, whatever we’ve done is due us not the life within us.
The life is there to give us life and not to intervene with our own will but, depending on our choice it could stay or not eternally even after death.
The bible made known who is THE LIFE in us in the name given to the Son. Jesus said;
“I’m no longer in the world, but they are in the world, even as I’m coming to you. Holy Father, watch over them in YOUR NAME, the name you gave me, that they will be one just as we are one.”John 17:11 CEB
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and THE LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 NIV
When Jesus answered, it was not the Son talking but, the Father or THE LIFE within because He said it Himself;
“For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.” John 12:49 NKJV
When He introduces Himself as Jesus, it is the Father speaking because Jesus is THE LIFE within given only to the flesh to make it known.
“So I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” Acts 26:15 NKJV
