Are you not wondering? The law was only a shadow or a preview of the things that would come. Yet, the name that Moses received was a personal/preferred/final name? For consistency sake, since the law was just a preview or introduction of the things that came, the name given to Moses should also be the same, it must be also a preview of who came- THE LORD.
It does not make sense that God would give His most personal/preferred/final name to Moses when the law He gave was only a preview of the things that came.
Some argue that THE LORD there is YHWH. But, I will argue that God for some reason wanted us to realize that He made a way on how to established this matter whether it should be THE LORD or YHWH.
This way is based on the verse below;
This will be my third visit to you. “Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.” 2 Corinthians 13:1
It says every matter must be established by 2-3 witnesses if we put it by ratio. It would follow that
-Out of 4 witnesses, at least, 3 must agree to each other.
-Out of 8 witnesses, at least, 6 must agree to each other
-Out of 12 witnesses, at least, 9 must agree to each other.
-And, so forth.
Now, lets established this matter by getting 8 translation, at least 6 of these translation must agree to each other.
“I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols.”Isaiah 42:8 NLT
“I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”Isaiah 42:8 KJV
“I am Jehovah, that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise unto graven images.”Isaiah 42:8 ASV
“I am Jehovah. That is my name; I give my glory to no one else, Nor my praise to graven images” Isaiah 42:8 NWT
“I am the LORD; that is my name; I don’t hand out my glory to others or my praise to idols.” Isaiah 42:8 CEB
“I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols.” Isaiah 42:8 NIV
“I am the Lord, this is my Name, and my glory wil I not giue to another, neither my praise to grauen images.”Isaiah 42:8 GNV
“I am the LORD! That is my name! I will not share my glory with anyone else, or the praise due me with idols.”Isaiah 42:8 NET
As you can see, out of 8 translation, 6 have said that the name is THE LORD. 2 of the translation says Jehovah.
Applying the principle of how to established any matter, the bible therefore established it that the name given to Moses was THE LORD, same as the law, this name is a preview of who came that became the Christ.
THE LORD JESUS.
