“Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Revelation 5:1-5 NIV
Question: How to understand the verses above?
Answer: The book of revelation is mostly symbolical hence, the symbolism of the verses above are the following:
1.) Sat on the throne– Symbolism which means the one in charge or, the one in control.
2.) Right hand– Symbolism of authority
3.) Scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals– Symbolism of complete (7) hidden (seals) knowledge of revelations (scroll).
4.) Lion of Judah – Symbolism of the Son as the Christ.
In retrospect, the verse is saying that the Father/ ETERNAL LIFE who is in charge or in control of everything have in His authority a complete hidden knowledge of revelations whom no one is worthy to know or receive except the Son who succeeded in the given mission or task by the Father.
